See Why You Must Own a Faux Fur Coat This Fall

The Faux Fur trend is on and here to stay. Big Fashion Brands like Gucci, Stella McCartney, and Calvin Klein have taken a stance against real fur coats and merchandise.

The move at Gucci to #nofur will do well with its younger client base attracted to their styles this year. The Millennials look to sustainably made products for fashion. We believe everyone should be concerned with the practices and procedures on how fashion manufactures source and make their products.

But buyer beware. “Thomas Salomon, general manager of Yves Salomon working with fashion house Christian Dior says “Fake fur is the least ecological product, which is done with plastic and non-renewable materials,”

Fake fur is known as pile fabrics. They can be made into many colors and some are even machine or hand washable. These bulk fibers are composed of blends such of acrylic polymers. One chemical included is petroleum.

Bulk fibers are typically composed of polymers, including acrylics, modacrylics, or appropriate blends of these polymers. Acrylic polymers are made from chemicals derived from coal, air, water, petroleum, and limestone. They are the result of a chemical reaction of an acrylonitrile monomer under conditions of elevated pressure and heat.

In 2010, President Barack Obama signed “The Truth in Fur Labeling Act” into law which restricts the sale of products containing real fur if they are not accompanied by truthful labeling.

Throughout the year’s many manufacturers have sold real fur as fake fur. Around the year 2015, The Humane Society of the United States accused Neiman Marcus of violating an agreement not to sell “faux fur” products containing actual animal fur. The complaint was filed with the Federal Trade Commission. In  2010 Neiman Marcus was also accused of deceptive advertising of faux fur and hairs of rabbit, raccoons dogs and coyotes were found in the advertised products.  Since then, the items have been removed from all store shelves.

What are your thoughts about faux furs? Do you love them or hate them?

Do you believe they still falsely give off the impression that we want to still kill animals for the look of luxury, whether the practices are sustainable or not?

Liliane Bettencourt Heiress of L’Oreal Dies at 94

Liliane Bettencourt of the founding family to the L’Oréal cosmetics empire passed at the age of 94.

Born in Paris on Oct. 21, 1922,  her life was not without controversy.  Her daughter L’affaire Bettencourt filed a lawsuit for her mother when she was swindled and taken advantage of by a photographer names François-Marie Banier- 25 years younger than Liliane.

Banier was accused of robbing her of an art collection, annuities, and money.  Her daughter fought for her in court stating her mother was not completely mentally aware and very frail. The man was criminally charged, and sentenced to three years in prison.

Scandals continued for the Brettencourt family when in 2010 her butler leaked information about $98 million kept in Swiss bank accounts to avoid taxes. She was accused of illegal campaign contributions to Nicolas Sarkozy, who ran for election in 2007 for the French Presidency.

Liliane’s net worth as reported by Forbes was $44.3 billion, including her stake in L’Oreal as a majority shareholder.

What’s next for the L’Oreal cosmetic empire?

First off, Dan Loeb of   Third Point, a venture capital company took a $3.5 billion dollar stake in Nestle. It is about 1.25% of Nestlé’s shares. Nestle’s brands include Purina Cat Chow, Kit Kat, and Haagen- Dazs ice cream to name a few.

Third Point has a 23% stake in the French cosmetics company, L’Oréal SA. Third Point Ventures is the venture capital arm of Third Point LLC, a registered investment adviser located in New York.

Third Point may sell its stake in L’Oréal, worth now about $25 billion. The company says it is open in talking about creating long-term value to optimize its capital return for its shareholders. There could be a possibility of  L’Oréal stake  to be  divested via an exchange offer for Nestlé

How To Choose The Best Nude Lipsticks and Nail Polish for Spring

It’s all in your skin tone babes!! Swivel up that tube and hold the whole thing in front of your face. It should make you smile and be happy. If it looks good that way, chances are it will look good on your lips.

Holding the tube up to your cheek lets you see the tone of the lipstick and how it appears with your facial skin tone and hair color.

Same goes for nails. Hold the nail polish bottle up towards your face and chest to get a feel how those two coats of color will look with your overall skin tone.  Our hands are always moving around to different parts of our bodies, and those nails look, “Oh So Pretty” when we use our napkins at lunch to blot our lipstick.
